The Paradox of Proximity

The contrast with consumer apps is stark. Cabs and riders, separated by a few kilometres, find each other in minutes. A jobseeker and an employer two bus stops apart can go a lifetime without connecting. The barrier is not distance — it is digital discoverability.
The same pattern repeats across every sector, in every district, every day:
An ITI graduate goes unplaced at campus, while a small business 800 metres away needs talent of exactly his trade.
The district economy is digitally dark
Section titled “The district economy is digitally dark”Most of the district economy is not on any digital map. Livelihoods, services and schemes live on walls, poles, autos and hoardings as posters, and travel through word-of-mouth chains. National platforms were built for digitally fluent users — not for the fragmented, vernacular, hyperlocal reality of district life.
The result: roughly 80% of the district economy has never appeared on any digital system.
Kavita, a commerce graduate in Ghaziabad, is urged by her family to move to Delhi or Gurgaon, convinced no meaningful career can be built at home. Two kilometres from her house, a manufacturing firm is looking for someone exactly like her. Neither knows the other exists.
The cost of invisibility

It hits hardest those who cannot rely on who they know — women re-entering the workforce, persons with disabilities, first-generation graduates without alumni networks, and daily-wage workers. Personal networks are how opportunities reach most people today; those without them are left out.
A shared discovery infrastructure changes this structurally, not individually. The proof is concrete: in February 2026, the needs of over one lakh persons with disabilities — across livelihoods, schemes and services — were surfaced across multiple districts in ten days at about ₹10 per interaction, versus ₹500+ for a traditional field survey.
Fixing the infrastructure changes who gets included — not through redistribution, but through local discovery.
The macro stake

SMBs contribute roughly 70% of employment in India but only about 30% of GDP — constrained not by capital, but by the inability to find nearby talent, customers and services. Local discovery failure is a drag on the productivity of the firms that employ most Indians.
The size of the opportunity

The good news: it’s solvable
Section titled “The good news: it’s solvable”This is not a theoretical problem. Field pilots in Ghaziabad and Dharwad show that local discovery can be surfaced cheaply and matched quickly when the right infrastructure exists.
